This dye is extracted from the flowers of the Palash tree (Butea frondosais) or "Flame of the Forest", is sometimes called Tesu Flower and can be dyed directly to wool and silk.
Many parts of this tree are useful, including the gum, which is used for caulking boats, and the seeds which have medicinal properties.
