This dye is produced from the bark of the Lodhra tree (Symplocos racemosa) and is also used in Ayurveda as it is antimicrobal, antifibrinolytic, antispasmodic, astringent and useful as a tonic, for dysentery, liver conditions, conjuctivitis, gum conditions, amongst other things.
